The construction of the project KSP01 head crab processor Vaygach to the class of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) has been completed. A set of RS documents was issued for the vessel on December 27, 2023.

Vaygach is designed to fish for various crab species at depths ranging from 20 m to 400 m as well as to produce frozen products directly on board. The construction was carried out at the Krasnoye Sormovo Shipyard within the framework of the investment quota program. The completion and sea trials of the crab fishing ship took place at the Vyborg Shipyard under RS survey.

Main characteristics:

  • length - 62.9 m;
  • width - 15 m;
  • height - 9.25 m;
  • gross tonnage - 2505 units;
  • volume of refrigerated holds - 4335 cub. m;
  • crew - 38 persons.

Vaygach opens a series of five crab fishing vessels that will operate in the North Atlantic and in the Arctic seas. The laying down of all five units took place in May 2020. The construction is carried out under the order of the North-West Fishing Consortium (NWFC).

Earlier, as part of its cooperation with the NWFC, RS surveyed the construction of project KMT01 Barents Sea type vessels. Following the success of the collaboration, NWFC sent a letter of thanks to RS, noting the high level of professionalism and the substantial contribution of RS specialists to the implementation of joint shipbuilding projects.
