Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) is inviting representatives of the container business to a dialogue at the 28th International Exhibition for Transport and Logistics Services, Warehouse Equipment and Technologies – TransRussia, to be held at Crocus Expo IEC, Moscow, between March 19 and 21, 2024. The RS booth will offer opportunities for discussing relevant problems and developments of container production in modern conditions, issues in the design and manufacture of containers, testing of prototype models, as well as the survey of containers in operation.
RS specialists are ready to provide information on the changes in both international and national requirements and RS Rules, explain the ISO 6346:2022 standard for container type codes along with requirements for modified and modernized cargo containers. The focus will be on new directions of service development, the advantages of cooperating with RS and prospective projects with RS participation.
Currently, RS is actively involved in projects on the creation of innovative cryogenic portable tanks for transporting liquid hydrogen, liquid helium, liquefied natural gas, a bulk container with bottom unloading along its entire length and breadth that allows to transport coal, chemicals, fertilizers, ore, grain, etc. and can be successfully operated in ports that are not fully equipped with the capacities of specialized bulk terminals.
RS also participated in the creation of a portable tank equipped with shells made of fibre-reinforced plastics (FRP) materials for transporting hazardous cargo. On January 1, 2024, the Amendments to the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code (IMDG Code), developed with the direct participation of RS, came into force, which ensured the admission of these portable tanks into the international maritime transport market. Further advancements of the project are tied to the development of international requirements for service equipment (valves, safety devices) made of FRP, an activity that is likewise being carried out with the participation of RS specialists.
RS places great importance on optimizing interactions with clients, actively implements digital services in its work, making it more convenient to deal with an array of information on container-related topics, simplify the process of document execution, as well as automate the process of making strength calculations during the design stage. RS is upholding the policy of an open dialogue within the framework of specialized conferences and industry forums in order to receive feedback and ensure more effective interaction with container industry enterprises.
