Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) has demonstrated excellent results, ranking among classification societies with the best performance indicators.
Port State Control (PSC) activities are under review during the 11th Session of the Sub-Committee on Implementation of IMO Instruments.
A key focus of discussions on enhancing procedures and harmonizing approaches within regional PSC Memorandums of Understanding (regimes) is the analysis of annual reports that provide statistics on fleet performance across classification societies, including the number of inspections, detentions, as well as deficiencies and their types.
As of today, reports for 2024 have been published by the major Memorandums of Understanding covering Southeast Asia, the Indian Ocean, the Mediterranean, the Black Sea, Latin America, and Europe.
According to the reports, RS has demonstrated excellent results, ranking among classification societies with the best performance indicators. Under some Memorandums, RS outperforms some IACS member societies.
The annual PSC statistics serve as an objective indicator not only of the degree of compliance with convention requirements but also of the quality of statutory surveys and certification work carried out by the classification society as a recognized organization.
