From 21 to 25 July, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) will host the 11th session of the Sub-Committee on the Implementation of IMO Instruments at its London headquarters. The Russian delegation, including representatives from Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS), will take part in the event.

The Sub-Committee's remit includes:

  • unification of port State control procedures;
  • harmonization of statutory surveys and certification procedures;
  • analysis of marine casualties and incidents and the promotion of measures to address their root causes;
  • enhancement of the mandatory IMO Member state Audit Scheme (IMSAS) among others.

This year, special attention will be given to the development of recommendations for conducting remote ship surveys and audits under the ISM and ISPS Codes using innovative technologies. The session will also work on revised drafts of the Procedures for port State control and the Survey Guidelines under the Harmonized System of Survey and Certification (HSSC), which are to be submitted for adoption at the 34th IMO Assembly in December.

RS representatives will participate in the Sub-Committee’s plenary session and its working groups, contributing to in-depth technical discussions at the expert level.

Session outcomes will be made available online in accordance with established procedures.

We remain committed to providing timely and high-quality coverage of IMO activities. Following each session, comprehensive reference materials in both Russian and English are published on the official website.

Recently, these reports underwent a significant upgrade with a revamped structure and layout, prioritizing clarity, readability and ease of use. Moreover, final reports are now promptly available by the next business day after a session concludes.
