Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) has published a new version of the Rules for the Classification and Construction of Ships Carrying Liquefied Gases in Bulk. The updated Rules came into force on July 1, 2024.

The amendments are aimed to support the design of modern liquefied gas carriers according to RS Rules. In particular, the new edition:

  • specifies the scope of design documentation for vessels under construction;
  • introduces Guidelines for temperature calculations applicable to LNG carriers that cover both analytical and numerical calculation methods;
  • specifies the requirements for General Approval for Ship Application (GASA) to support the developers of new membrane technology;
  • details the typical scope of documentation required for the Approval in Principle (AiP) of new cargo containment systems.

The document is available under the section “RS Publications” on the official RS website.
