Application of Risk Assessment Methods to the Analysis of Ship Equipment Operation at Low Temperatures

The article considers the issues of application of formal safety assessment (FSA) methods during development and improvement of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping requirements to ships intended for operation under low temperatures. It is emphasized that due to the lack of statistic data on ship equipment failures caused by low temperatures the application of FSA is possible using expert appraisal method. An approach to classification of objects at risk is specified and a mathematical model for the expert information processing is suggested.
