The IMO’s Maritime Environment Protection Committee Activities

The article is written following the work of the 57-th session of the Maritime Environment Protection Committee and contains a review of the session resolutions concerning adoption of revised Annex VI to MARPOL 73/78 and the NOx Technical Code (The Technical Code on Control of Emissions of Nitrogen Oxides from Marine Diesel Engines), concerning the consideration and approval of interpretations and amendments to MARPOL 73/78, as well as the measures aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions from ships, concerning the transfer of harmful aquatic organisms and pathogens in the ship’s ballast water and many other issues of maritime environment and air protection.
The IACS position on particular resolutions of the session is stated in the article.
