To Ensure the Effectiveness and Safety of Transport Ship Navigation in the Arctic

The article puts forward the idea to increase the efficiency of using the Northern Sea Route as a West-East transport corridor on the basis of existing nuclear icebreakers and the new tactics of transport ship piloting at maximum permissible speed. The study shows that the way of solving the problems of the Northern Sea Route further functioning by means of increasing the icebreaker power is exhausted, and further development of navigation in the Artic lies in the implementation of human factor potential. Proposals for increasing the efficiency and safety of transport ship ice navigation are presented.
