Methodological Recommendations on Risk Assumption and Assessment When Substantiating the Expediency of Ship Propulsion Plant Modernization

This article contains recommendations on improving the procedure of substantiating the expediency of ship propulsion plant modernization. Methods of determining the need for selecting a rational variant of ship propulsion plant arrangement on the basis of risk assessment as part of formal safety assessment methodology are considered, and relevant selection criteria are given. The sequence of operations, as well as algorithms, are described to enable the application of simulation technique for solving the above tasks.
