Requirements of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping for the Design, Construction and Operation of Subsea Pipelines

The article considers the main provisions of the RS two normative documents, namely, the Rules for the Classification and Construction of Subsea Pipelines (SP Rules) and the Guidelines on Technical Supervision during Construction and Operation of Subsea Pipelines (SP Guidelines). The article focuses on the issues of external load normalization and the SP components strength, on the requirements for flexible polymer-metal pipes for SP, as well as on additional measures for the SP protection in areas of intense ice gouging. The article provides a wide coverage of the SP steel pipes performance for cases of crack-like defects of different types, as well as the procedure for the above defects permissibility evaluation
