Concerning Analysis of Dynamic Models of Ice Impact on Offshore Platforms

The article reviews current situation in respect of implementing dynamic models of mobile offshore drilling units (MODU) and fi xed offshore platforms (FOP) interaction with ice formations. The necessity has been emphasized for considering dynamic phenomena when determining the ultimate and fatigue strength of MODU/FOP structures. Some actual accidents have been presented due to dynamic ice impact on MODU/FOP.
