Developing Proposals for Correcting Static Stability Curve Requirements

The article covers the research results obtained by the Ship Theory Chair of the St. Petersburg State Maritime Technical University in order to harmonize the static stability curve requirements of Rules for the Classification and Construction of Sea-Going Ships of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (the Register Rules) and of IMO Resolution А.749(18).
According to the requirements of the Register Rules, the limit of positive static stability (the angle of vanishing stability) is not to be less than 60°. However, this requirement is not contained in IMO Resolution А.749(18), which involves different interpretations of the Register Rules applicability.
The possibility has been substantiated to delete the above requirement.
