Functional Safety under International Standard MEC 61508 in Terms of HIMA Controllers

The article covers safety systems requirements aimed at ensuring functional safety under MEC 61508. Basic defi nitions and clarifi cations of particular terms used in the standard have been given. Functional safety implementation has been considered in terms of HIMA controllers. Some designs have been presented providing for ensuring the required safety integrity level.
