Problems of the Arctic Development in View of the Human Factor

Special attention is paid to the analysis of the human factor as the dominant cause of accidents in the Navy. The concept of human factor is defined in terms of psycho-physiological personality parameters. This relationship is confirmed by the accident statistics. Particular emphasis is given to the importance of psycho-physiological selection of applicants to marine educational institutions connected with management decision-making in stressful situations that is particularly important in relation to the Arctic shipping.
