Prospective use of fuel cells in LNG transportation

The economic and environmental aspects of using fuel-cell electrochemical generators in the power plants of gas carriers are reviewed. Verification of the applicable documents of IMO, the Register and other classification societies is made. Safe use of fuel-cell electrochemical generators is briefly analyzed. High probability of fuel-cell application on board ships in the next few decades is suggested.
