Abstract

A new approach to marine transportation system (MTS) analysis and design as well as optimization of ships as part thereof is described. Ships are presented as independent entities moving and interacting in a GIS environment under logical blocks of the dynamic simulation model. The layout of corresponding "MTS-model" software which realises such an approach is described. A number of R&D works performed using "MTS-model" software is also given.
Key words: marine transportation system, ice ships, dynamic simulation models, geoinformation media, geographical layer.
