Abstract
The article analyzes data on ships using LNG as fuel, providing information about the methods of using gas as fuel on the sea-going ships and the trends in the application of various gas-fueled engine types. As a result the conclusion was made about the comparatively small number of vessels using gas after conversion. The main goals and tasks that should be solved during the ship's construction are formulated to make the subsequent conversion of ships more attractive. The article presents the main points of the Register's Rules draft requirements for the ships with the GRS (Gas Ready Ship) sign in the class notation.
Keywords: liquefied natural gas, gas fueled ships, using LNG as fuel, development of the Register requirements
