Dynamic strength estimation of a line thrower's pneumatic valve

Abstract

The paper addresses the strength analysis of a pneumatic line-thrower gate. We use the analytical methods of the theory of rods and shells complemented by computer mathematics. The impact of the valve cap on the guide occurring during the operation of the device is described by the layer and half-space models. In the first part of the article we consider elastic oscillations and waves arising during the valve elements collisions. The special attention is paid to the valve cap in the second part of the study. We model its oscillations using the calculation scheme for the shell of revolution. The wave processes simulation is done by using the models of rods of variable cross-section. As a result of the computation important data about the force and impact time of the valve cap and the guide have been obtained. The maximal stresses in the cone shell model of the valve cap are determined.
