Metallurgy problems in contemporary and future shipbuilding

Abstract


The article examines the results of strain deflection of rod-shaped samples, plates and thin-walled shells under static and dynamic loading. It is shown that the transition of metal plastic formation process into an unsteady condition drastically influences the limiting metal characteristics and critical structure formation. The irregular character of metal surface change in the zone of unstable plastic strain is shown for the first time, with the necking down radius change being not monotonic but dependent on aperiodic non-stable movement. The study also presents the comparability of static and dynamic tests results of rod-shaped samples on quasistatic tension and impact tension, and flat plates tests on hydrostatic and dynamic buckling.
