Abstract

Analysis of the requirements for the selection of vertical clearance size specified in international and Russian standards as well as the normative documents of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping has been performed in the article. Specific features of vertical clearance calculation have been considered (taking into the results of the model tests) for constructed and commissioned offshore platforms for shallow water areas of the Northern Caspian region have been considered. The account of OOGF, sea depth, design wave parameters and ice conditions results in the need to increase the sizes of the vertical clearance according to the results of the model tests as compared with the requirements of the regulatory documents. Taking into account the correction based on the results of the model tests, the existing experience gained during the operation of the facilities proves the correctness of selection of the vertical clearance size OOGF for shallow water areas of the Northern Caspian region in accordance with the rules of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping.
