Abstract

The article is concerned with the conceptual design development of a heavy-tonnage BaltMax tanker with hull shaped for single cavern formation in way of the ship bottom (SSCF), with the maximum possible deadweight under the terms of space restrictions and drafts in ports and Danish Straits, with an ice class sufficient for year-round servicing of the Baltic ports, in the first place, the oil ports of Primorsk and Ust-Luga. The main objectives of the study were the experimental assessment of the economic efficiency of SSCF application on board a heavy-tonnage restricted-draft oil tanker and feasibility study.
Key words: oil transportation, tanker, power saving, air cavity, hull shape forming an air cavity, model tests.
