Abstract
The article considers ship combined propulsion plants, which find wide application on modern ships. Combined propulsion plants consist of main heat engines and electric propulsion motors operating on common or separate propellers. Combined plants possess both the advantages of traditional propulsion systems with heat engines and electric propulsion plants. Use of combined propulsion plants is advisable on ships with a wide range of load changes on the propeller and increased requirements for the maneuvrability of the ship. The rise of a new type of propulsion plants - combined, characterized by a wide variety of circuit solutions and the range of equipment - requires a comparative analysis and systematization. It is related, in particular, to studying the necessity of adjusting the requirements of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping to this type of propulsive complex. The article considers the main types of combined propulsion plants and their operating modes. A multi-shaft combined propulsion plants is specially considered due to its prospective implementation on a new ship planned for construction in the near future.
Keywords: combined propulsion plant, heat main engine, electrical propulsion motor, electrical propulsion system, electrical propulsion plant, reduction gearbox, operation mode.
