Company audits by the administration of part III of the ship energy efficiency management plan (SEEMP)
The service is provided in accordance with the requirements of MEPC.347(78) “Guidelines for the verification and company audits by the administration of part III of the ship energy efficiency management plan (SEEMP)”.
The audit requirement applies to Companies related to the Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plan (SEEMP) for ship of 5,000 gross tonnage and above, which falls into one or more of the following categories:
- bulk carrier;
- combination carrier;
- containership;
- cruise passenger ship;
- gas carrier;
- general cargo ship;
- LNG carrier;
- refrigerated cargo ship;
- ro‑ro cargo ship;
- ro‑ro passenger ship;
- tanker / chemical tanker.
The company audit is carried out by the Maritime Administration or an organization recognized by it If any of the elements in regulation 26.3.1 of Annex VI to the MARPOL Convention is updated, and in any case every three years since 01.01.2023.
The purpose of the company audit is to:
- verify that the SEEMP for which the Confirmation of Compliance has previously been issued complies with regulation 26.3.1 and, in the case of non-compliance, require remedial action;
- confirm that the ship is being operated in accordance with SEEMP part III, regardless of its rating;
- verify the progress made in the (corrective) actions to be taken in the execution of the three-year implementation plan and the plan of corrective actions;
- verify self-assessment and improvement of actions taken; and .5 verify the assignment of responsibilities related to the implementation and monitoring of measures.

Upon successful audit results, the company will be issued a “Statement of conformity of company with the requirements regarding compliance with Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plan (SEEMP) part III” (Form 2.4.43.3).
