Audit of firms

Organizations involved in the following works shall be audited in the Register:

  • design of containers;
  • manufacture of containers;
  • repair, modernization and modification of containers;
  • testing of prototypes;
  • preparation and testing of tank containers at periodical surveys;
  • determination of verified gross mass of containers in compliance with the requirements of IMO resolution MSC.380 (94);
  • inspection of offshore containers (except for offshore tank containers) and their lifting set in service;
  • inspection of freight containers (except for tank containers) in service.

Verification of compliance or recognition of firm by RS includes:

  • review of documents confirming compliance of firm with the RS requirements;
  • audit of firm: demonstration of work performance and verification of records in the area subject to recognition.

Types of activities of firms and relevant RS documents drawn up upon audit results are given in Table 2.1.5 of the General Regulations for the Technical Supervision of Containers in the Collection of the Rules for Containers.
