Abstract
This article presents the methodology of determination of ice loads acting on the ship ice belt. This method is also applicable for the calculation of ice loads acting on the stern of a modern double-acting ship. The design parameters of ice loads make it possible to check the hull strength of a ship operating in different ice conditions depending on her speed. The developed methods are verified according to the results of the ice loads full-scale measurements. The results of the analysis show that the designed ice loads (with an accuracy needed for the practical use) correspond to the calculations of the full-scale measurements results.
Keywords: ice, double-acting ships, hull, methodology, ice loads, ice interaction, ice pressure, ice strength.
