Abstract
This article considers the possibilities and trends of using graphite babbitt "AMMT" as a material not only for the end seals but, also for creating a new friction pair for thrust sliding friction blocks. Theoretical basis for this type of thrust blocks is given. Application of graphite babbitt "AMMT" as a part of thrust sliding block with water in the friction zone and the basis for the thrust block without oil lubrication system are described. The article provides the main drawing of thrust block where the friction pair without oil lubrication is applied, as well as the description of supporting part of the block with friction pair of bronze and composite materials, and thrust part of the block with friction pair of titan and graphite babbitt. A layout sketch is given showing the location of thrust bearing using an expansion clutch.
