Scientific and Technical Council (STC) coordinates R&D performed in the Register and includes more than 300 highly skilled RS specialists, leading scientists, representatives of scientific and design organizations, higher maritime educational establishments, shipping companies, shipyards, industrial firms, Maritime Administrations, Ministry of Transport, other Ministries and Departments

The meetings of the STC Presidium provide the opportunity for exchange and dialogue between representatives of more than 30 scientific, educational and design organizations, shipping companies, shipyards to review results and draft plans for development and implementation of high standards in maritime safety.

The STC Presidium comprises the most competent experts in the maritime industry.

The STC Presidium carries out:

• forming of the proposals to update the Register scientific and technical policy
• review and expertise of amendments to the RS normative base
• review and expertise of RS new services and RS dedicated software
• review and expertise of plan of R&D executed on the Register request and R&D implementation results
• review and analysis of the Register proposals and initiatives regarding the RS international activity in IMO, IACS and other organizations
• review of the specialized STC Sections’ activities, review and preparation of proposals on changes to composition of Sections, general management of the STC Sections’ activities
